Although pregnancy is not considered a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), federal Title IX guidance requires that universities provide pregnant and parenting students with the same accommodations as similarly situated individuals with non-pregnancy related temporary disabilities. Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex – including pregnancy, parenting, and pregnancy-related conditions. Protections also apply to pregnancy loss and termination.

Under Title IX, pregnant and parenting students have the right to continue their education, and Dominican is committed to the success of our pregnant and parenting students. Furthermore, we respect the privacy and confidentiality of pregnant and parenting students. Information regarding a student's pregnancy or related accommodations will be treated confidentially and disclosed only on a need-to-know basis.
