The Sister M. Patricia Lyons Distinguished Alumni Award
Established in 1982 in honor of Sister Patricia Lyons, O.P., who provided 33 years of outstanding service to Dominican as director of alumni relations, this award honors Alumni Association members who have distinguished themselves in the service of the University.
Mary has served on the alumni board of directors and as an advisor to the alumni relations department. She has represented Dominican in the community, identifying potential students for whom our campus would be the right place to continue their education and personal journey. ӣƵ is truly embedded in her, and she is Dominican. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she embodies the ideals of study, reflection, community, and service and lives them daily.

Before her tenure at GLIDE, Gina's commitment to community service was evident in her roles with Young Community Developers, the San Francisco YMCA, and other key organizations. Her leadership philosophy emphasizing the importance of leading from behind and moving people forward together, has guided her through various impactful positions, including her time as the California State Director at The Trust for Public Land and CEO of the San Francisco Education Fund. Gina’s personal story, from relying on GLIDE's support as a young mother in the late 1980s to leading the same organization today, embodies a powerful message of hope and the possibility of breaking the cycle of poverty.
